Maritza possesses an experienced and unique understanding of cannabis related business from the financial and tax aspects. As the co-founder and manager of one of the largest Nevada cannabis support businesses, K&H Consulting, they focused on assisting cannabis businesses in the marijuana industry manage their unique tax, accounting, and operational challenges. Through her past business and now Maritza has served for some of the largest brands and cannabis companies in North America.

Maritza is an experienced compliance, audit, and business development executive skilled at providing assurance and advisory services. With over a decade of diverse business experience gained from working at closely held businesses and publicly traded multinationals in the insurance, gaming, retail, and technology sectors. Her broad work portfolio makes her uniquely adept at identifying issues, determining root causes and delivering practical business solutions designed to add value and improve financial, compliance and operational processes. Maritza traveled the world as an audit team leader for Walmart, Inc. performing targeted audits with special emphasis on cash management, ethics, and fraud. She was heavily involved with a global policy review of the company’s Anti‐Corruption Compliance Program in support of the Compliance and International Finance areas.

Maritza is a passionate cannabis activist and worked for the Marijuana Project Policy, the largest organization working solely on marijuana policy reform in the United States specifically as the Industry Liaison for the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol in support of Question 2, a Nevada state ballot initiative that successfully legalized marijuana for recreational purposes in 2016. As part of the effort to expand her cannabis knowledge, she also worked in retail dispensary operations as a patient advisor for Blüm Las Vegas, a subsidiary of Terra Tech Corp, a publicly traded cannabis company.

She served as Board Member for Wellness Education Advocates of Nevada, a non-profit patient advocacy and education group. Maritza inspires others through her testimonial as a passionate patient advocate and is also an investment partner in Healthcare Options for Patients Enterprises (H.O.P.E) Premium Cannabis, a Las Vegas-based company founded by medical doctors seeking to help patients improve their lives with high-quality medicinal cannabis products. She is actively involved with the National Cannabis Industry Association; where she demonstrated her commitment towards changing social, cultural and political stigma by participating as Nevada representative during NCIA’s Lobby Days held in Washington D.C.

She established the Las Vegas chapter of the Cannabis LAB – Law, Accounting and Business (cLAB) and served as Vice President. cLAB was an educational organization designed to enhance and strengthen the cannabis industry by connecting, networking, providing thought leadership and serving as a “go to” resource for business professionals looking to enter, or already in the cannabis industry. Recently, she was named by High Times Magazine as Top 100 Women in Cannabis in their November 2018 edition.

Maritza has spoken at sponsored events by The Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington, DC., Women Grow, an organization focused on female leadership in the cannabis industry and Las Vegas Medical Marijuana Association, an organization dedicated to promoting the medical marijuana industry in Nevada.

Maritza holds a Master of Accounting degree from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a licensed Notary Public for the State of Nevada.
